2016 has been a stellar year for us and we can’t wait to continue our growth and success in 2017.
This year has been our best yet, reporting our largest turnover and increase in profits. This is a huge achievement when the industry is struggling to find the right model for local press in the 21st Century. In the last year, 46 regional newspapers* have closed, whilst our circulation continues to grow and we are launching new titles.
I believe the traditional media model is broken and that our fresh approach is the future of the industry. We don’t see the need for fancy offices and the money that could be spent on this is ploughed back into the business. Investing in high quality print, design and digital innovation is what makes us stand out from the competition.
We also don’t see the need for an army of employees. We work with a number of highly experienced business journalists, designers, social media experts, distributors and business development people who all work with us on a freelance basis. Because we don’t have to commit to the cost of having full time employees, we can afford to have some of the best in the industry working with us. All of these freelancers are advocates for our brand and promote it wherever they go, which is a real value add for us and our clients.
