One lucky school-leaver with an interest in the legal profession is being given a rare opportunity to join Bath’s largest law firm, Withy King, as an apprentice.
This will be the first time Withy King has taken on an apprentice to train as a legal assistant in the firm’s busy Personal Injury team based at Midland Bridge.
Apprenticeships are well-established in certain sectors such as manufacturing and engineering, but are much less common in professional services firms – although this is now changing.
Sam Ford, a recruitment advisor in Withy King’s HR team, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for someone with an interest in law to get a foot in the door and gain practical experience of what it means to work in the legal profession and the wide range of roles available, from legal administrators to paralegals and solicitors.
“The vocational route is becoming increasingly popular and could be an ideal route into the law for an ambitious school-leaver. Ideally, we’re looking for someone with an interest in law and A Levels but all applicants with at least five GCSEs at grades A-C will be considered.”
Withy King will be working closely with Damar Training which will administer the apprenticeship, provide one-to-one training and conduct on-site assessments during the 14 month apprenticeship contract. It is hoped that this will develop into a full-time legal assistant role and a stepping stone for further career development.
