Bath Community Kitchen launches autumn pop-up in Shires Yard
Cookery workshops, open kitchen events, and a seasonal lunch club will all be on the menu from Saturday 3rd October at Bath Community Kitchen’s autumn pop-up in Shires Yard, Milsom Street.
There’s an open invitation for people in Bath to get hands on with fresh food, learn new skills and support Bath Community Kitchen’s mission to get more people enjoying good food together at its pop-up kitchen, downstairs in Shires Yard.
The fun starts with an open kitchen day on Saturday 3rd October. After that there’ll be October half term workshops for children and the launch of Bath Community Kitchen’s Good Food for Less cookery course. Each Thursday, you’ll be able to pick up a pay-what-you-feel ‘meal deal’ at the Thursday lunch club, supporting community projects while you tuck into vibrant and seasonal salads and soups to takeaway.
Bath Community Kitchen’s cooks and volunteers will be joined by guest chefs and food writers including Helen Lawrence, from Bath’s renowned Demuth’s Cookery School and Gemma Ogston, author of The Self-Care Cookbook and The Healing Cookbook. There’ll be cosy curry club workshops, weekend brunch sessions and more.
Groups of friends or colleagues can also book a bespoke workshop or colourful seasonal supper to get together and enjoy a special festive celebration that gives back to the community.
Rob Lewis, founder of Bath Community Kitchen, said, “We’re really excited to bring Bath Community Kitchen into the heart of the city and get more people involved in what we do.”
“We host weekly community meals in Twerton and Radstock, running hands-on cookery courses in and around Bath for disadvantaged, vulnerable and diverse people, as well as getting involved in city events like The Forest of Imagination and Bath Film Festival.
“Thanks to the Shires Yard team we have the chance to open the kitchen doors, tell more people about what we do and inspire our community to enjoy good food together!”
As well as welcoming people into the venue , Bath Community Kitchen will also use the space as a base for event catering, a space where the team can prepare canapes, buffet lunches and seasonal suppers ready to serve at venues across Bath.
Ed Boylan, Commercial Manager at Shires Yard, added, “We are thrilled to be welcoming Bath Community Kitchen to Shires Yard. As Shires Yard continues to evolve, we want it to be a place that feels genuinely connected to Bath and the people who live here, so having Bath Community Kitchen become part of that journey feels like a very natural fit. We’re incredibly excited to see them bring the space to life and to welcome the wider community through our doors.”
