Bath & Somerset’s Most Inspiring Women 2025| Pippa Russell
To mark International Women’s Day 2025, we’re celebrating Bath and NE Somerset’s most inspiring women.
Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be featured in our Spring magazine and every weekday throughout March we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.
Today we put the spotlight on Pippa Russell, Founder of Russell Communications.
Tell us more about Russell Communications and what you do
Russell Communications provides strategic communication services focusing on brand development, media relations and reputation management. We focus exclusively on the financial services sector including platforms, fintech providers, financial consultants, wealth managers and ETF providers. The business is based here in Bath but our clients include UK, European, US and Australian companies.
What are you most proud of?
Launching the business amidst the pandemic was certainly challenging but we quickly gained momentum and the business grew fast! In a few years we had managed to secure numerous new client contracts and extend the team. Building the business from the ground up has been an incredible source of pride for me and we have received a number of industry awards and accolades since our launch, indicating that the wider industry also values the growth path we have experienced as well as the value of services that we offer.
How does it feel to be one of Bath’s Most Inspiring Women?
Being named as one of Bath’s most inspiring women is truly humbling and a real honour. It’s incredibly satisfying to know that the hard work and dedication poured into the business, have not only resonated with our clients, but has also led to broader recognition within the community. Bath and the South West is such a fantastic place to live and work and I am delighted to be included alongside such phenomenal women in this year’s power list!
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate success as well as reflect on some of the challenges still faced. I believe sharing experiences, supporting each other and offering inspiring role models can make a real difference. I belong to a number of groups including ‘Women in Platforms’ and Women in ETF’s both of which provide mentorship and support networks for women and men in financial services.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #AccelerateAction. Where would you like to see change fast when it comes to equality?
The theme this year emphasises a call-to-action. Progress towards the closing the gender pay and pensions gap, despite progress, has unfortunately been slow. These for me would be key drivers for change, enabling equality in the workplace leading to equitable retirement.
What piece of advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to be bold, unafraid and willing to be take risks and take action. I would also advice myself to surround myself with good people, to learn from them and to lead by example. Mostly I would say enjoy the ride and make the most out of every opportunity.
