Space available at Green Park Station’s South Vaults
The Ethical Property Company is inviting expressions of interest from businesses and organisations interested in taking a unique space in central Bath.
The historic South Vaults at Green Park Station is an underground space offering a rare opportunity for the creation of a community-focused enterprise rooted in sustainability, inclusivity and positive social impact.
The company is looking for imaginative, purpose-driven tenants keen to engage with the local community and contribute to the long-term regeneration of this heritage site.
First opened in 1860 as Queen Charlotte Station, Green Park Station stands as a proud reminder of Bath’s industrial past. The South Vaults, once bustling with goods destined for the Great Western Railway, retain their atmospheric charm, with sweeping brick arches, exposed stonework, and a distinctive industrial character.
The space benefits from direct access from both the South Platform concourse and Midland Bridge Road.
Perfectly positioned next to Sainsbury’s, the site is just a short walk from Kingsmead Square and ten minutes from Bath city centre. With a bus stop directly outside and on-site cycle racks, the location is exceptionally well-connected.
Green Park Station’s market square is already a thriving community hub, home to the award-winning Bath Farmers’ Market, the BCAF Art Market, vintage and antiques fairs, and regular live music, drawing a lively mix of locals and visitors every week. There is also an array of independent shops and restaurants.
The Ethical Property Company, which manages the building, has been supporting organisations committed to social and environmental change since 1998. With centres across the UK, the company champions sustainability, inclusivity and community impact in every space it operates.
Offering approximately 250 m² across a series of interconnected vaulted chambers, the space features high brick ceilings, exposed stonework and flexible layouts suitable for a wide range of uses, from collaborative workspaces and creative studios to community hubs and cultural venues.
With natural daylight filtering in and direct street-level access, the South Vaults present a rare opportunity to occupy a characterful, versatile space in the heart of Bath.
Ideas suggested by The Ethical Property Company for the space include an art gallery showcasing local and emerging artists; a wine bar offering tasting events and social gatherings; an LGBTQ+ café and safe space with peer support and cultural programming; an independent bookshop with an integrated café and regular literary events; or a railway museum and café celebrating Bath’s transport heritage
Mark Hill, Manager of Green Park Station, said, “The South Vaults represent one of Bath’s most characterful and historically significant spaces, and we’re excited to invite organisations to help shape its next chapter.
“We’re looking for partners who share our commitment to community impact, sustainability and inclusivity – tenants who will bring fresh energy to Green Park Station while honouring its rich heritage. This is a rare opportunity to create something truly special for the people of Bath.”
