Bath-based strategic workplace design and build company Interaction has made another senior hire, appointing Richard Saunders to the newly created role of Contracts Director.

In his new role, Richard will lead the company’s team of Contracts Managers and Site Managers. Prior to Richards appointment, Dieter Wood, Managing Director of Interaction, was handling these responsibilities.

An expert in both Cat A and Cat B major works projects, Richard has overseen developments of up to £20m, winning the 2019 CIJ Hungary award for ‘Best Fit Out Project’ for his work with Jaguar Land Rover in Budapest.

Richard brings a wealth of experience in contract administration, including negotiations and tenders, and is an active member of various client steering committees and regional development groups.

A chartered Senior Construction Project Manager, and member of the Institute of Building, Richard will oversee the continuous professional development and upskilling of all Interaction’s site teams, building on the ongoing drive to ensure all site staff obtain NVQ-level certification.

Having worked in London and across Europe for 20 years, Richard is looking forward to a better work/life balance by bringing his skills closer to home, whilst maintaining strong relationships across the south.

Dieter said, “Richard is an enthusiastic, ambitious, results-driven individual with over 23 years’ experience in the construction industry. He’s a strong leader, people manager and problem solver with great commercial awareness and a proven track record in delivering large complex schemes. He has a broad range of experience across different sectors both in the UK and beyond into mainland Europe and is passionate about doing his part to improve standards across the construction industry.”

Richard added, “Interaction has a unique, vibrant culture and a real passion for what they do, very much focussed on people; their own staff and those that end up using the fantastic spaces they design and build. I’m thrilled to be on board to help drive the next phase of Interaction’s success.”

This news follows the granting of planning permission for Interaction’s new cutting-edge office development at 3-4 Edgar Mews in the heart of Bath.
