Mosaic delivers ground-breaking software for schools
Bath-based technology company, Mosaic Digital Consultants, has built a new IT platform to help students set and achieve personal goals based upon their own strengths and interests.
The system, called ‘Aspire’, was commissioned by London-based education company East Learning CIC, which has spent recent years developing and trialling a prototype platform.
The company needed to replace its prototype with a brand-new system that could support the roll-out of their programme to hundreds more schools over the next few years and turned to Mosaic for support.
Aspire is already being used by a dozen schools across the country, with many more planning to trial it over the next few months.
The platform allows students to define and work towards academic, extra-curricular and personal goals, and identify the enrichment activities which will help them get there. It puts them in control of their own school experience, giving them a voice to tell teachers how they want to be supported. It also helps monitor their progress against these plans, as well as their broader wellbeing.
Teachers can get real-time data oversight on students’ personal development plans, concerns, interests and needs at a year, class or individual level. They can instantly see who needs what help and understand how they are progressing.
School leaders can advertise and signpost students to the activities and resources which meet their development needs. They get direct feedback from students, helping them tailor their enrichment and pastoral programmes to be as engaging and effective as possible.
Mosaic CEO, Angus Hughes, described the challenge his team faced as ‘formidable’.
He said, “Schools can’t change when their academic terms begin, so we only had a few months to get the new system up and running. It was a very intense period, but my team were fantastic, and worked non-stop to deliver for our client.”
East’s Angharad Thomas praised the close working relationship with Mosaic and the success of the new system.
She said, “We’re so pleased to have chosen Mosaic as our technology partners. The system they’ve built for us has been a real success with our schools, and we’re looking forward to working with them as we roll our programme out to more schools over the next few years.”
