Bath business leaders invited to screening of climate emergency film
Business leaders across Bath are invited to a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution on Monday 12th October, 6pm–8.30pm.
The film distils evidence presented at Westminster as part of a high-level national briefing on the climate and nature crisis.
One of thousands of screenings taking place in communities across the UK, the event is open to organisations of all sizes across Bath and the surrounding area, from sole traders to larger employers.
Juliet Daye, co-founder of Satori OD the event host and sponsor, said, “This summer has made it abundantly clear that climate change is a here-and-now challenge, not a future one, and that summers like the one we’ve just experienced are only going to become more frequent as part of continuous change. Businesses who are awake to what’s happening will be best placed to respond, for their customers, their employees and the communities they’re part of.”
The film brings together testimony from ten of the UK’s leading experts on the implications of the climate and nature crisis for health, food, national security and the economy. Following the screening, attendees will reflect together on what this means for business resilience, strategic planning, risk management and leading people through continuous change.
Juliet added, “The climate and nature crisis isn’t separate from the work business leaders are already doing on risk and planning, it’s central to it. There’s also real potential for positive impact here, through the influence organisations have on their suppliers, stakeholders and the communities they sit within.”
The evening will allow space for leaders to speak with and ask questions of each other as well as ecological economist and lead for Bath Royal and Literary Institutions’ Eco Talks programme Stanislav Shmelev, co-owner and ex CEO of Ecosurety, serial NED and co-host of award winning podcast Talking Rubbish – James Piper, and representatives from Bath Climate Hub including Sue Poole.
Places are limited and organisers expect the event to sell out quickly.
