Meet your future workforce at the Simple Recruitment Careers Fair

For the third consecutive year, Simple Recruitment is partnering with Norton Hill School to deliver a Careers Fair connecting employers with students.

This event offers businesses an opportunity to engage directly with Year 10 and 11 pupils as they begin shaping their future careers, when their perceptions of work, industries and employers are still developing.

Rather than a traditional careers event, this fair is designed to create meaningful conversations between students and employers. It is a chance for businesses to showcase themselves, share real insights into today’s workplace, and influence young people who will soon enter the workforce.

Beyond the day itself, the event also opens doors for longer-term partnerships with local education providers, creating opportunities for future collaboration, work experience placements and community engagement.

Engaging with students at this stage offers a different kind of recruitment advantage. It allows employers to introduce their sector early, building awareness and interest among young people who will soon be considering apprenticeships and entry-level roles. For many, this may be their first exposure to the practical realities of a working environment and the range of opportunities available locally.

There is also value in the visibility it brings. For businesses, particularly those in sectors facing skills shortages, it creates space to explain what they do in straightforward terms and to highlight career paths that are often overlooked. At the same time, it gives students a clearer sense of what employers expect, from day-to-day attitudes through to the skills that make a difference once they enter the workplace.

Conversations with students will provide useful perspectives on how younger people view work, what influences their decisions and what they are looking for in an employer. That insight can help shape how organisations think about attracting and keeping future talent.

Beyond recruitment, there is also a broader role to play. Being present at events like this signals a willingness to engage with local education and contribute to the development of the regional workforce. It reflects a longer-term commitment rather than a single hiring need.

The format of the event supports that approach. Employers are able to speak informally with students as well as give short talks about their organisation, their routes into work and their future needs. The emphasis is on open, unhurried conversations rather than quick introductions, giving both sides the chance to engage more meaningfully.
