Something for Everyone at Bath Digital Festival 2018

Technology has an important role to play in nearly every aspect of life, from business to leisure, fitness to learning and much, much more.

This year’s Bath Digital Festival 2018 (Tuesday 23rd – Saturday 27th October) will provide a comprehensive series of workshops, seminars and events across the city exploring many different aspects of technology and how it affects our day to day lives.

Whether you’re a fully-fledged programmer or self-confessed technophobe, there truly is something for everyone.

Introduction to E-Textiles

The Makery, Milsom Place, 41 Milsom St, Bath, BA1 1BZ

Tuesday 23rd October 2018, 12.00pm – 1.30pm

Come and discover how to bring textiles and technology together. This promises to be a brilliant event for teachers, students, makers, tinkerers, crafters and children alike and a great opportunity to explore the intersection between art, craft, design and technology.

Learn about the emergence of E-Textiles, get familiar with the materials and stitch a circuit using conductive thread.

Exerting Influence – The Psychology of Sales Emails

Apex Hotel, James St W, Bath, BA1 2DA

Wednesday 24th October 2018, 10.30am – 11.00am

Bristol-based digital marketing agency Noisy Little Monkey will be hosting this not-to-be-missed event.

The Wolf of Wall Street tells us selling utilises the finer elements of psychology, while the BBC’s White Gold shows us if science is employed, it’s basic at best. The truth is somewhere in between… and in those emails you send to would-be clients, there is a certain science to getting the response you’re after. In an age where most sales emails are personalised templates, getting things wrong can be catastrophic.

Noisy Little Monkey’s Technical Director Jon Payne will be revealing the secrets behind what a successful sales email strategy looks like so that you can crush those targets.

Lego Robot Wars

Wednesday 24th October 2018, 6.30pm – 8.30pm

Join fellow LEGO enthusiasts to assemble and program your own fearsome bots and battle against other teams to see who will be crowned the champion.

This is a great challenge and perfect ‘let your hair down’, post-work entertainment.

Tech for Health and Wellbeing

Thursday 25th October 2018, 2.00pm – 3.00pm

This informative event is being hosted by Andy Morley, CEO of digital health consultancy New Level Health.

At the event experts will talk about the importance of activity and diet on health and wellbeing. The panel will explore how digital and technology can be used to enhance the experiences for the wider community.

If you’re a digital or health expert or generally interested in health and wellbeing, come along to this event, ask questions and share your experiences.

Future Interactions – Beyond the Smartphone

BRLSI, 16-18 Queen Square, Bath, BA1 1BA

Friday 26th October 2018, 9.45am – 10.30am

The speaker at this event will be James Holmes, Head of Electronics and Software at Bristol-based Kinnier Dufort.

Find out how smart assistants, smart sensors, gesture interfaces and augmented reality are changing how we interact with technology. This session will explore some of the new technologies vying to supplant the touchscreen and how each one is enabling new product experiences.
