TBE Awards 2025, sponsored by Thrings, take place next week!

Web Usability is shortlisted in the Best User Experience category, with Director Lucy Collins also a finalist in the Leader of the Year category sponsored by Bath Clinic and The Ridgeway Hospital.

The business is a user experience consultancy that has been helping teams create accessible, enjoyable digital experiences since 2002, all grounded in real research with real people.

Web Usability says that insights don’t just sit in reports; they drive action through clear, user-centred processes that deliver results quickly and effectively. Each project is tailored to client needs, providing meaningful, evidence-based insight shaped around the organisation. With deep expertise in UX and accessibility across public, private and not-for-profit sectors, Web Usability combines independence, experience and care.

We asked Lucy Collins about the business and the 2025 TBE Awards.

Why did you enter the 2025 TBE Awards?

We believe in taking time to pause and reflect on what we’ve achieved and how we’ve grown. The TBE Awards felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate a year of transformation for Web Usability. It’s been 12 months since I took over the business from my parents, and this milestone reminds us that progress is about evolving with purpose, staying true to our values, and celebrating the people who make it all possible.

What achievement are you most proud of in the past 12 months?

I’m proud of how we’ve evolved Web Usability into a true research and accessibility partner, launching new services that deepen our client relationships and impact. We’ve strengthened our role as accessibility allies through our podcast, blog and events, giving disabled people a platform to share their experiences. Personally, I’ve grown into my own leadership style, shaped by empathy and purpose, while building a business that helps make the digital world fairer for everyone.

What does being a finalist in the TBE Awards mean to you / your team?

It feels incredibly special. As a small team, we pour our hearts into everything we do, so being recognised as finalists is both humbling and energising. It’s a celebration of how far we’ve come, from a family-founded business to a purpose-driven research agency helping to shape accessibility across sectors. For us, it’s a reminder that our values of kindness, curiosity and inclusion are what make our work matter.

What’s next for you – any exciting plans or goals on the horizon?

Year two is about building on what we’ve started. We’re expanding our research and accessibility partnerships and developing our AI-powered inclusive testing persona service to bring lived experience into digital design at scale. We’re also deepening our commitment to digital sustainability and inclusive employment by providing paid, flexible research roles for disabled and neurodivergent people. Our goal is to make inclusion a natural part of every organisation’s design process.

If you win, how will you celebrate?

With gratitude, good food and a glass of fizz. We’ll take a moment to reflect together on what this recognition means, not just the win itself but the journey that brought us here. There will be laughter, probably a few happy tears, and a toast to the people who have supported and inspired us along the way, including my parents who started it all.
