The second annual TBE Awards takes place in November, and in the build-up we’ve been talking to our sponsors who help to bring the event to life.

SWIG Finance is sponsoring the Going the Extra Mile Award category.

We caught up with Nicola Parker, Lending & Markets Director, to chat about the organisation and its role in the 2025 TBE Awards.

Below, the text reads “Going the Extra Mile Award – category sponsored by SWIG Finance.” Two boxes are shown: on the left, an orange rocket icon inside a white square with an orange border; on the right, a white square with an orange border containing the heading “FINALISTS:” in bold black text, followed by a list of four names: AGM Planning Consultants, Bath Racecourse, Signs Express Bath, and Truespeed. The background fades from white at the top to orange at the bottom.

Can you give us an overview of your organisation and some of the work or projects you’re currently undertaking?

SWIG Finance is a people-focused lender committed to helping smaller businesses across the South West grow and thrive. We take a relationship-based approach to lending, making decisions based on potential rather than collateral. This enables us to support entrepreneurs who may be overlooked by traditional finance providers.

Why did you decide to sponsor a TBE Award category this year?

We’ve begun working more closely with The Business Exchange, and sponsoring an award felt like a natural extension of that relationship. The Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to connect with and better understand the vibrant business community across the region.

What was it about the category you’re sponsoring that appealed to you?

We’re proud to sponsor the Going the Extra Mile award. As a relationship-based organisation, we deeply value the importance of going above and beyond for customers. This category celebrates businesses that do just that – working collaboratively to support their clients’ long-term goals, which aligns perfectly with our own ethos.

How important is regional recognition like the TBE Awards for businesses and organisations?

Regional recognition is incredibly important. As a South West-based organisation, we know first-hand how vital networks like TBE are for fostering collaboration, visibility and growth. Celebrating the achievements of local businesses not only boosts morale but also highlights the value they bring to the region and beyond.

Are there other categories you’ll be keeping a close eye on?

Yes – Using Tech to Transform Businesses is one we’re particularly excited about, especially as one of our customers is among the nominees!

What are you looking forward to about Awards night?

We’re really looking forward to hearing more about the inspiring businesses operating in our region. It’s a great chance to celebrate their successes, make new connections and be part of a community that’s driving positive change across the South West.
