TBE’s Year in Review: Thrings Reflects on 2025 and Looks Ahead to 2026
As part of our Year in Review series, we caught up with Simon Holdsworth, Managing Partner at Thrings to reflect on the biggest achievements of 2025 and what’s ahead for 2026.
What’s been your biggest win this year?
While we’re proud to maintain sustainable growth as a firm, our biggest achievement this year is the success of our people. This is highlighted by the recent strong cohort of internal promotions – many of whom have been with the firm since the start of their legal careers.
We believe strongly in empowering people to achieve their career aspirations so it’s rewarding to see people fulfil their potential in the firm.
What surprised you most about 2025?
Business have had to become used to navigating the unexpected and being agile in their decision making so we’re used to surprises! The rapid rise of AI-enabled technology was predicted and yet the pace of its development and its potential to transform how we work has still managed to surprise us.
How are you evolving your offer to meet client needs?
Our recently launched new referral initiative, Thrings Link, has been launched to help connect law firms across the country, providing a smarter, more efficient client service
It’s free for firms to join and it gives them peace of mind that, if they are unable to act for their clients – whether due to a conflict of interest, limited capacity, or a matter outside their area of expertise – those legal needs can be fulfilled without any impact on their working relationship, with the client’s needs always the top priority.
How has your team grown or changed this year?
As a firm we continue to grow and develop our service offering and are always seeking talented people to join us in providing the best possible service to our clients. This year, we have welcomed almost 50 new colleagues across the firm in teams ranging from Corporate, Commercial and Real Estate to Agriculture, Family and Private Client. We are continuing to innovate in the way we work, utilising technology to make our work more efficient, simpler and impactful for our staff and clients.
What role has your business played in the regional community this year?
For starters, we are proud to have continued as headline sponsor for TBE Awards this year that is helping to showcase the innovation and success of the incredible businesses and organisations across the region.
A core focus for the firm is to help provide growth and success to our clients but this focus is increasingly shifting towards the wider community, supporting charitable organisations such as the Quartet Foundation, Dorothy House, Prospect Hospice and others, helping to make an impact on the lives of individuals and families where we live and work.
