Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity reveals latest stats for 2026
In the first half of 2026, Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity carried out 595 missions, including 42 in the Bath area.
The charity also transported 134 patients to hospital, the most frequent being the Royal United Hospital in Bath, where 34 patients were transferred.
February saw the air ambulance respond to more than 100 missions.
The proportion of missions attended by a critical care doctor has increased from 61% in 2025 to 65% so far this year. That means more patients can receive advanced procedures and lifesaving interventions at the scene, bringing hospital-level care directly to the patient.
Chief Executive, Barbara Gray, explained, “We are incredibly proud to provide lifesaving critical care to people across our community, 365 days a year. Behind every number is a real person, along with their family, friends and loved ones. With our busiest February on record, these figures highlight just how vital our service is. As a charity, we are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us so far this year. Together, we are helping to save lives.”
The air ambulance provides critical medical care by land and air across Wiltshire and Bath, delivering the same level of care as a hospital by bringing an expert team and specialist equipment directly to those in need – as fast as possible.
On call 365 days a year, 19 hours a day, the team responds to an average of three incidents daily – attending by helicopter or critical care car. This vital work is only possible thanks to the generosity of the Wiltshire and Bath communities. As a registered Charity, the air ambulance receives no regular government funding and relies entirely on the generous donations and support of local communities.
Based in central Wiltshire, the charity’s helicopter can reach anywhere in Wiltshire within 11 minutes – and the centre of Bath in just four.
