Bath Christmas Market marks 25 years of festive magic
With less than ten weeks to go, Bath & North East Somerset Council is preparing to welcome residents, local businesses, and visitors from across the UK and beyond to the 25th anniversary Bath Christmas Market, running from Thursday 27th November to Sunday 14th December.
Visitors to the city centre will enjoy a winter wonderland of artisan food, drinks, and gifts from stallholders, charities, and caterers in beautifully lit chalets.
First launched in 2001 as a small gathering of local businesses and artisans, the market has grown into one of the UK’s most popular festive events. Last year, it attracted an estimated 444,000 visitors, generating £60.4m turnover for businesses, supporting 500+ jobs, and creating an associated spend of £48.9m in the city.
This year, more than 250 businesses—65% from Bath and the surrounding area—will take part, alongside six Christmas Carts showcasing Bath and Bristol-based micro-businesses. Sustainability remains a priority, with stallholders required to use biodegradable packaging and reuse decorations wherever possible.
What’s new for 2025?
A festive reindeer trail will guide visitors beyond the market footprint, encouraging exploration of Bath’s wider retail offering across the double-UNESCO World Heritage city.
Travel and Accessibility
Park & Ride services will run more frequently during the market, with staff on hand to assist at all sites. Quiet shopping sessions for those with sensory needs will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm, with no entertainment scheduled during these times. A quiet, warm space will also be available at Bath Central Library.

Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Communications and Community, said, “The 25th anniversary of Bath Christmas Market is a proud moment for the city as we reflect on how the event has grown in popularity. We know the event has an impact on people living in the city and would like to thank you for your cooperation and support each year.
“Although the market is a large-scale event with traders joining us from the wider region, it also helps local businesses with their growth and resilience. It’s a significant boost for the local economy, creating seasonal jobs and bringing extra vitality to the heart of the city.
“This year we’re encouraging local residents to explore the market at a more relaxed pace during weekdays when the market is quieter. Whether you’re shopping for gifts, sampling local food or simply soaking up the seasonal ambience, we look forward to welcoming you.”
