Bath City Farm is marking its 30th anniversary with a fundraising appeal to help it continue its important work.

The charity directly supports over 1,300 people each year at its green space in Whiteway, Bath. The working farm and wildlife haven opened in 1995, and since then the 37 acres of Bath City Farm has been at the heart of the local community, supporting the health, wellbeing and education of children, young people and adults experiencing a range of challenges.

Therapeutic and vocational work-based programmes in animal care, conservation, horticulture, hospitality, cookery and crafts support participants to gain confidence and practical skills that can enable positive progression.

To help the Farm continue this work, a birthday fundraising appeal aims to raise £1,000 for each year it has been open. £30,000 will help address funding challenges and meet the increasing demand and level of complexity amongst those who access the Farm’s services.

The Farm’s Director, Brendan, said, “For 30 years the Farm has had a lasting impact on so many lives, but now we face unprecedented times financially. We are fighting to keep the current provision of community services available; we need your help. If you feel able, please give generously to support the next 30 years of high-impact community work at Bath City Farm.”

Some of the Farm programmes include:

  • Little Farmers is a project for our youngest visitors and their carers. Through play, craft and nature they are supported with their confidence and the child’s development.
  • The Wild Acres Alternative Provision programme offers outdoor-based learning for young people requiring additional support outside of the mainstream education setting.
  • Roots to Health is a programme that improves the mental wellbeing of participants through horticulture, animal care and cookery.
  • The Roots to Work programme creates opportunities for people who are long-term unemployed to gain lasting skills, building confidence to re-enter work, training or volunteering.
