Bath Community Kitchen returns to TBE South West Charity Conference & Expo
Bath Community Kitchen is once again joining us at TBE’s South West Charity Conference & Expo to provide a delicious and nutritious lunch.
Last year, attendees enjoyed rustic Italian ribollita soup served with Landrace bread prepared on-site by the team. It was so well received that we have invited Bath Community Kitchen back again!
A flavour-filled seasonal vegetarian lunch will be on the menu again this year at a cost of £7.50 per head. You can book your space for TBE and Bath Community Kitchen’s Networking Lunch here.
Bath Community Kitchen uses food to create positive change for people’s physical and mental wellbeing. With shared meals and hands-on workshops, this local not-for-profit is building a happier and healthier city one dish at a time.
Bath Community Kitchen’s founder, Rob Lewis, and his team of enthusiastic cooks and volunteers host two community meals each week, one in Twerton and one in Radstock.
Food that might otherwise go to waste, is gathered from local businesses, including Larkhall Farm Shop and Landrace Bakery, and transformed into a fresh and nourishing meal.
Guests, from young families to elderly couples, or people coming alone, sit together around a shared table to enjoy each other’s company, conversation and delicious vegetarian dishes.
Creating a warm and welcoming place for people to come together and share a meal is at the heart of Bath Community Kitchen’s mission to help address food poverty and loneliness – sharing nutritious food and strengthening community ties.
Everyone is welcome at the weekly community meals and Bath Community Kitchen is helping break down some of the barriers that can exist between people in Bath. Community meals are free for everyone but guests are also welcome to pay what they can.
Sharing cookery skills and opportunities for people to explore new ingredients and recipes though workshops is another important part of Bath Community Kitchen. The team runs several courses, including Cook Like a Chef, for young people at risk of homelessness, Guys Can Cook for men living alone and a new family cooking workshop encouraging cooking from scratch.
Businesses and organisations in Bath can also book Bath Community Kitchen to cook for events, from creative canapes to fresh conference lunches, as well as team building cookery workshops. Income from these partnerships helps support Bath Community Kitchen’s community projects and creates work opportunities for people experiencing long-term unemployment.
To date, Bath Community Kitchen has cooked nearly 6,000 suppers for people at its community meals, welcomed over 3,500 people to workshops and has rescued over five tonnes of surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
With growing support from the wider community of food lovers, businesses and fundraising partners in Bath, the positive social impact of bringing people together around a shared table is set to keep growing.
