To mark International Women’s Day 2025, we’re celebrating Bath and NE Somerset’s most inspiring women.

Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be featured in our Spring magazine and every weekday throughout March we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Robyn Blackmore, Founder, Robyn’s Yoga Studio

Tell us more about you and your work
I’m Robyn Blackmore, Founder of Robyn’s Yoga Studio—an award-winning yoga space in Bath. My passion is creating a place where people can reconnect—with themselves, their bodies, and their well-being. I’ve been teaching yoga for over eight years, and alongside that, I mentor business owners and offer motivational talks, drawing from my experience across the corporate, creative and wellness industries.

For me, yoga isn’t about nailing the perfect pose—it’s about making wellness accessible. I also host retreats, which are a real highlight of my work. They give people the chance to step away from the daily chaos, recharge, and gain a fresh perspective—all in some truly stunning locations.

What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the incredible community that has grown at Robyn’s Yoga Studio. It’s so much more than a a yoga studio—it’s a space where people have formed real connections, friendships, and support networks. Seeing people walk through the door as strangers and leave as friends, or watching someone find the confidence to try something new because they feel safe and supported, is the most rewarding part of what I do. The sense of belonging that’s developed here is something really special, and I’m beyond proud to have played a part in that.

How does it feel to be recognised as one of Bath’s Most Inspiring Women?
When I first read the email letting me know, I almost spat my tea out! It’s such an honour to be recognised alongside so many incredible women. As an independent business owner, it’s not often that you receive recognition for all the hard work that goes into building something from the ground up, so this feels particularly special. The fact that I’ve inspired anyone to take the leap and pursue what they love—that’s just an amazing feeling.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women’s Day means celebrating the achievements, strength, and resilience of women everywhere. It’s a day to reflect on how far we’ve come, but also to recognise how much more there is to do in terms of equality and support for women. For me, it’s a reminder to lift up and champion the women around me—whether it’s through mentorship, community, or just everyday support. It’s a day to acknowledge that every woman has a unique and valuable journey, and together, we can inspire each other to continue breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #AccelerateAction. Where would you like to see change fast when it comes to equality?
When it comes to equality, I’d like to see faster progress in terms of equal opportunities for women in the workplace, particularly in leadership roles. Women still face barriers in being taken seriously or given the same opportunities as their male counterparts, especially in male-dominated industries. It’s time to not only talk about equality but to actively accelerate the support and mentorship that empowers women to take on those roles without hesitation. There also needs to be more investment in creating accessible, flexible work environments for women, especially those balancing careers with family or caregiving responsibilities. Change in these areas could have an incredible impact on not just individual women, but society as a whole.

What piece of advice would you share with your younger self?
I’d tell my younger self that not everyone is going to like you, and that’s okay. Don’t waste so much time trying to meet others’ expectations. Take better care of your body—it’s not invincible! And, for the love of God, don’t wear those ridiculous heels! And whatever you do, don’t let Chloe cut your hair.
