Sustainable Wedding Alliance Accreditation for Roman Baths & Pump Room

The Roman Baths & Pump Room has been awarded accreditation by the Sustainable Wedding Alliance (SWA), recognising its commitment to environmentally responsible practices.

As more couples look to make thoughtful choices when planning their weddings, the SWA accreditation recognises the venue’s efforts to reduce environmental impact while continuing to deliver exceptional celebrations in a truly unique setting.

Managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council, the venue has taken several steps to reduce its environmental impact, including:

• Installing an innovative heat pump system that captures energy from the natural thermal spring water to help heat The Roman Baths and the nearby Bath World Heritage Centre, significantly reducing reliance on gas
• Implementing measures to reduce the venue’s operational carbon footprint, including motion-sensitive lighting, automatic switch-off systems for equipment and a building management system scheduled around booked events
• Maintaining a policy of zero waste to landfill, with non-recyclable waste sent to a local energy recovery facility

SWA is an independent organisation dedicated to promoting sustainability across the wedding industry. The SWA accreditation programme recognises businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical sourcing, waste reduction and minimising their environmental impact. Its assessment process requires accredited venues to provide evidence of genuine, measurable action, giving couples confidence that their chosen venue is committed to continuous progress.
