TBE Awards | Meet the Finalists: Blackmore UK
Blackmore UK is a finalist in the 2025 TBE Awards, sponsored by Thrings.
The company is shortlisted in the Richardson Swift Positive Business category which recognises outstanding contribution to the community.
The category looks at how businesses make a positive impact through:
- Fundraising efforts
- Time donated to local causes
- Events with impact
- Green initiatives
- Mental health/wellbeing initiatives
- Social positive impact within their sector
We asked Logistics Manager Joe Spence about the business and the 2025 TBE Awards.
Why did you enter the 2025 TBE Awards?
At Blackmore UK we believe technology shouldn’t end up wasted or in landfill. We entered the TBE Awards to show how secure IT disposal can go beyond compliance and create real community benefit.
Every day we collect, sanitise and refurbish IT equipment to the highest standards, while supporting our main sponsored charity, Donate IT, to get devices into the hands of people who need them most.
The Awards recognise businesses that make a lasting difference. It’s also a chance to recognise the people who make it happen: our drivers, refurbishment staff, audit team, clients and community partners who keep the process running week after week.
What achievement are you most proud of in the past 12 months?
We’re proud of proving that secure IT disposal can be a genuine force for good. Over the past year we’ve helped over 2,000 people gain access to refurbished laptops, tablets and PCs through Donate IT devices that would otherwise have been destroyed.
We continue to meet the ADISA ICT Asset Recovery Standard 8.0 (DIAL 3 Distinction) whilst holding ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, 45001 certifications, showing our commitment to quality, security and environmental standards.
We’ve also developed our CO₂e impact reporting so clients can see the carbon savings achieved through reuse. It’s a clear example of compliance, sustainability and social value working together in practice, not theory.
What does being a finalist in the TBE Awards mean to you and your team?
Being recognised as a finalist is a proud moment for everyone at Blackmore UK. It confirms that doing business the right way really does deliver.
From the initial contact through to refurbishment and reuse, everyone plays a part in getting things right and giving old assets a new life. It reminds our clients that by working with Blackmore UK, they’re choosing a partner who delivers both security and social value.
What’s next for you – any exciting plans or goals on the horizon?
The next year is about deepening our impact and strengthening partnerships. We’re refining our reporting so we can clearly show the carbon and community value created through every collection.
With Blackmore UK’s ongoing sponsorship, Donate IT will continue to expand its reach, providing vital technology to more schools, charities and families across the region.
Inside the business, we’re investing in staff training and leadership development to support the team that makes all this possible. Our goal remains simple: make secure, sustainable IT reuse the standard, not the exception.
If you win, how will you celebrate?
Together. Every achievement we’ve had this year has been a team effort, and a win would be no different. From the warehouse to the office, we’d celebrate the same way we work side by side, with plenty of cake and a well-earned toast to the people who make it all happen.
