TBE Awards | Meet the Finalists: Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity is a finalist in the 2025 TBE Awards, sponsored by Thrings.
The charity provides critical medical care by land and air across Wiltshire and Bath.
From the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity airbase in Semington, the helicopter can reach anywhere in Wiltshire and Bath in just 11 minutes. Its paramedics and doctors are highly trained in critical care and supported by specialist medical equipment, enabling them to provide leading-edge care in extreme, often life-threatening situations.
Adam Baker, Director of Communications and Supporter Engagement, told us about the charity’s TBE Awards nomination in the Charity / Not-for-Profit category, sponsored by Given Gain.
Why did you enter the 2025 TBE Awards?
The last year has been a huge one for our Charity, as it celebrated its 35th anniversary of saving lives. The Charity rebranded to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance (from Wiltshire Air Ambulance) to better reflect the essential work being carried out in the city of Bath and its surrounding villages, as well as in the heartland of Wiltshire – and this has grown our support base and donations. Additionally, we were called to record number of missions, 1,343.
What achievement are you most proud of in the past 12 months?
The fact that our team could be there for the people who needed us most. The 1,343 missions in a calendar year exceeded the previous high experienced during the Covid pandemic of 2020. Sadly, that means more people becoming ill, more people suffering serious trauma, an increase in road traffic collisions, sporting injuries and self-harm. However, due to the support of the public in funding our lifesaving work, our clinical experts – supported by our pilots – were on hand a record amount of times, and everyone should be proud of that teamwork.
What does being a finalist in the TBE Awards mean to you / your team?
It’s tough being in the non-profit sector, so for any charity to be recognised amongst its peers for excellence and going above and beyond is fantastic for everyone connected with the team. This includes our amazing volunteers, donors, ambassadors and trustees.
What’s next for you – any exciting plans or goals on the horizon?
We are just coming up to the one-year anniversary of our rebrand to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, which has helped deliver a huge increase in support across our operational area, specifically in Bath. We’ve just launched our Big Christmas Raffle and we’re very much looking forward to the Christmas period, as we host our annual carol services in Malmesbury and Bath (tickets on sale now), as well as our Christmas Market and Light Switch On at the airbase.
If you win, how will you celebrate?
If we win, we’ll celebrate by taking a moment to thank everyone who made it possible – our dedicated team, passionate volunteers, and generous supporters. We’d mark the occasion with a well-deserved get-together, reflecting on the hard work of the past year and sharing our gratitude. It would be a wonderful opportunity for us all to connect, celebrate our achievements, and renew our commitment to supporting the communities we serve.
